Running for MHKC

I hope this email finds you well and you are enjoying spring.

I wanted to see if you’d be willing or able to assist me in my latest project.  I won’t go into too much detail right now but, in short, I am running The San Diego 100-mile Endurance Run on June 11, 2011 and am trying to raise money and awareness for the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp here in Oregon.

I was a part of this camp last summer as a counselor and it changed my life (and the course of my career).  I witnessed students undergo such beautiful and profound changes in my short time there, and I am hoping to be back there again this summer in some capacity.

I have set up a little site that explains more about my mission and has a few short videos you can watch.

Click HERE to visit the site

It would really mean a lot to many people if you could chip in a little.

Thank you in advance!

Yassine

6-Hour Orienteering Event in May

The Columbia River Orienteering Club (CROC) is putting on a 6-hour
orienteering event on Saturday May 14 in Central Oregon.  This event
is ideal for adventure racers and endurance runners.

Details:
- You need to be on a team of 2 to 5 people.
- The terrain is fairly steep but open (minimal trees) and ideal for
1st time orienteers.
- It’s on the Big Muddy Ranch, formerly known as Rajneeshpuram home of
the Bagwan himself.
- The closest “town” is Antelope Oregon; it’s about a 3 hours one way
drive from Portland.
- Event cost is $25 per person.

Complete event details are on the CROC website, www.croc.org

Direct link:  http://croc.org/events/nextevent.php?up_id=237

I did the 24-hour version of this event several years ago – my first
24-hour anything.  It was a lot of fun.  Can’t beat this experience,
especially for this price.

Mt. Ashland Hillclimb Registration

Registration just opened yesterday for the 2011 edition of the Mt. Ashland Hillclimb Run. Registration online here.

I ran it last year, and it was probably my favorite event of the year. Amazing course, fun town (Shakespeare Festival!), post race beers from atop a mountain… And registration is just $15. Sign up early, as it will surely fill up.

Forest Park All Trail Challenge

The Forest Park Conservancy just announced details for the 2011 Forest Park All Trails Challenge. The short story is that they are putting the challenge out there for all able-bodied runners/hikers/walkers to cover every bit of the trail system, all in the name of raising funds that will be put to preservation and protection of the park.

If you are already thinking, “Well, I was gonna run all the trails anyway, and already planned on donating a few bucks to the park,” stop thinking that. Just stop. Because they are dangling a “week’s stay at La Fumade, a five-bedroom farmhouse in the Languedoc wine region of southern France” for the top fundraiser. Go for it, and bring me along if you win.
